picture of the day: early talkie
One of the very first 'talkies' being made. To dull the sound of the early noisy cameras, they were enclosed in soundproof boxes. Woody Van Dyke here directs Raquel Torres and Nils Asther playing brother and sister in a scene from The Sea Bat, 1930, while cameraman John Arnold films the action from a booth.
